I have just received my 16 grain .177 SOC die set. Using a 16.2 grain JSB beast pellet in the set, results in a 13.3 grain slug. am I doing something wrong or have I got a defect set ???
Sir we have identified the problem, it seems like the pellets you are using are of a bigger diameter and it's choking the cavity of the die.
Material is staying outside the cavity and does not fill it completely.
The potential solution to this problem is to use a 3.5-4mm lead wire and swage the slugs.
We did consult with a customer who has the same die set, he sizes the pellet first and then he uses them to swage the slugs, we recommend using the same procedure to get accurate results.
Do let us know if using the alternative solves your problem, Kindly revert back in case it hasn't.
